Karate competitors claim gold

Susie Oh, Caitlyn Ray, Zach Lynch, Shihan Peter Jackson, Tyson Hoban and Leah McCoy from the Maryborough Kokoro Kai Karate Club headed to Melbourne last fortnight for the National All Styles competition.

Six members of the Maryborough Kokoro Kai Karate club attended round one of the National All Styles (NAS) competition held in Darebin, Melbourne on March 17.

Susie Oh won gold in the veterans and silver in weapons.

Susie was up against her instructor, Shihan Peter Jackson, who made a return to competition for the first time in nine years to claim gold in weapons.

Youth competitors, Tyson Hoban Zach Lynch, Leah McCoy and

Caitlyn Ray also had a competitive day on the mat.

Tyson Hoban won gold in his division while Zach Lynch placed sixth in a field of 11 competitors in his second ever competition.
