Dunolly Blue fittingly won the 2018-19 midweek shield on Tuesday after a season which saw them go completely undefeated.
Weather and green conditions were ideal and a large contingent of spectators were treated to some very good bowling from both Dunolly and their fellow grand finalists, Highland Tartan.
The contest produced plenty of highlights with the match see- sawing at different stages.
Dunolly held a 10-shot lead at the lunch break and although the dynamics changed, they were able to maintain this margin.
Highland’s Leanne Wallis and Dunolly’s Loretta Parker staged a good tussle from start to finish.
Scores were level at lunch and remained level with one end to play.
Wallis was able to score a vital one-shot win on the last end to claim the rink for Highland.
Dunolly’s Marg Davies only scored seven shots at the resumption of play after the break, but it was just enough to defeat a fast finishing Jeanette Oliver and teammates by two shots.
The third rink was the decider, with Dunolly outplaying their opponents by nine shots.
Barry Cann, Dunolly’s leader, set the tone and the rest of the team responded.
Highland tried to match them but losing a five and then a four proved costly.
