Animal lovers across the nation are stepping out to raise some much needed money for the RSPCA this May.
Maryborough’s Ami Shaw, her team and her four-legged friend Carlos are participating in the 2019 Million Paws Walk on May 19.
The walk raises money for the estimated 20,000 animals that enter RSPCA shelters across Australia every year and helps with costs associated with rehabilitation, rescue and rehoming.
Ami said she was inspired to participate in the walk for a number of reasons, but the biggest being the unfair treatment of animals that the RSPCA works hard to combat.
“It’s such a great cause and animals have always been close to my heart. To see them get neglected and abused is just heartbreaking and I want to be part of the change that puts a stop to that,” she said.
“So far we’ve raised $255 and that’s enough to microchip, vaccinate and desex one dog — everything it needs to help it find a home.”
