Wolves loss sees Lady Blazers out of finals

The Maryborough Lady Blazers have dropped out of finals as the result of a painful 30-point loss to the Wodonga Lady Wolves at the weekend.

With just seven players on their roster, the Blazers ventured to Wodonga last Friday for the first final of the season.

The sides got off to a competitive start, with Maryborough only trailing by a reachable seven points at quarter time.

In usual fashion, Claire Blower, Keely Hare and Jordan Macilwain took care of the scoring for the Blazers in the first, posting a score of 10 to Wodonga’s 17.

Hare worked hard to narrow the score in the second, producing an eight-point quarter.

The Blazers kept pace with the Wolves and at one point narrowed the lead down to five points.

Wodonga had once again blown the score out by halftime, leaving the Blazers trailing 33-22.

Things only got worse for Maryborough in the third term, the Wolves really sunk their teeth in and took a 57-34 lead into the final quarter.
