The Maryborough and Surrounds Official Visitor Guide was launched last Thursday at the Central Goldfields Art Gallery, alongside the gallery’s 2019 Exhibition Program.
The Visitor Guide is the Central Goldfields Shire’s most significant tourism publication, with 25,000 copies printed and distributed throughout Victoria.
Central Goldfields Shire chief administrator Noel Harvey said the visitor guide is a “step up” from previous guides.
“This is a wonderful new publication and I think it is a step up from the official visitor guide that we have had in Maryborough and surrounds for quite some time,” he said.
“This guide gives some really good information to visitors about what they can expect when they visit the entire region and that is a very, very important message we need to convey.
“We have galleries, we have beautiful parks and gardens, we have our history and our heritage, we have arts and culture. They are all the things that make up this region and are the lifeblood of what we can offer to visitors as they come here.”
Central Goldfields Shire manager tourism events culture Joel Chadwick said the visitor guide took over two months to complete and cost close to $20,000 to make.
“From start to finish we’re looking at around a two-and-a-half month project. We’ve worked off the framework of previous years which has made the process easier because we haven’t had to start from scratch, we’ve tried to give it that refreshed feel,” he said.
