The Creswick Imperials have the almost impossible task of outscoring Maryborough this weekend after the Owls put up a massive score of 8/214 at the weekend.
Reigning two-day premiers Maryborough elected to bat first on Saturday, taking to the Invermay Recreation Reserve crease with confidence.
Skipper Ben Hoban and leading runscorer Sam Bartlett were the first up with the Willow in hand, producing an impressive 97-run partnership.
The productive duo was split when Bartlett (66) was dismissed by Joel Antonio, leaving Hoban to pair with Mitch McClure.
McClure was bowled for a duck by Antonio and his replacement Martin Dell managed to add just 23 runs to the board before he was claimed by Jason Jones.
Dell’s replacement Ben Robertson (1) was quickly dismissed by David Coxall making way for young Todd Doran to step up alongside Hoban.
The pair came to a 41-run partnership, which was ended by Coxall seeing Doran out for 18.
Although making no addition to the score himself, Troy Hubble stood alongside Hoban as he nudged Maryborough’s score into the 200s.
