The Dunolly Football Netball Club has announced its new and improved list of coaching staff ahead of the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League’s (MCDFNL) 2019 season.
Former Eagle Jamie Townsend and Dunolly legend Ashlee McClelland have put their hands up to coach the senior football and netball sides for the 2019 MCDFNL season which is set to start in late April.
Preseason training is well underway at Dunolly, with Townsend working hard on the recruitment front and McClelland signing on as both A and B grade netball coach.
Townsend has rejoined Dunolly as playing coach after spending the last two years in the Golden Rivers Football League.
Townsend has a big task on his hands, hoping to improve last year’s results which saw the senior side lose all of its games for 2018.
McClelland returned to Dunolly last year and played an integral role in the A grade team’s progression to the 2018 finals while also surpassing 250 games in the blue and yellow.
DNFC president Ashlee Lierich said the club is lucky to have two senior coaches who both have previous experience at Dunolly.
“It’s been a very busy month behind the scenes and all our work is
paying off as we have secured a panel of high quality coaches to lead us into the season ahead,” she said.
“While this is fantastic for this year, we are also looking more broadly to ensure we are viable and growing into the future. This requires a strategic approach and the committee is certainly on the right path starting with the caliber of Jamie and Ashlee as our senior coaches.
“The club is extremely fortunate and excited to announce this coaching panel. While we are really optimistic to work towards our goals for 2019, I would also like to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of the coaches from last year who aren’t continuing.
