MKM’s outright win hands Laanecoorie Dunolly the wooden spoon

Laanecoorie Dunollyʼs Dylan Leist is claimed by MKMʼs Aaron Westbrook during the second innings of their two-day clash.

MKM has claimed its first outright win of the season, keeping Laanecoorie Dunolly to a modest 117 runs on Saturday and outscoring them yet again in the reply.

Mill was victorious in the first innings last Saturday, defeating Laane by 78 runs and then backed it up at the weekend, bowling the side all out before a very conservative five-and-a-half over effort awarded Mill the outright win.

At the weekend, Laane took to the Mill pitch in slightly better form than the week before, adding 117 runs to its overall total of 189 runs for the game.

Steven Dellavedova was Dunolly’s leading runscorer on Saturday, although appearing eighth in the batting order, he managed to add a personal total of 33 to the score before he was claimed by Jason Sinclair.

Nathan Leist (19) and Peter Webb (16) were the side’s next best contributors in the second innings.

Sinclair was Mill’s best wicket taker in the second, he took 5/35, Aaron Westbrook claimed 3/27 and Jaxon Smyth and Kieran Johns claimed one wicket each.

Sinclair was also the side’s best wicket taker over the two weekends, taking a combined total of 8/69.

Mill’s reply innings was short and sweet on Saturday and the side needed to make just 39 runs to claim the outright win and a massive 10 premiership points.

Johns (4), Westbrook (22 not out) and Liam Radlof (13 not out) delivered this total and the ego- boosting win.
