A grade sides prepare to wrap up round eight

Liam Maffescioni (Laanecoorie Dunolly) bowls to Mitch McClure (Maryborough) during the sideʼs round eight clash at the weekend.

The Maryborough District Cricket Association’s A grade sides will take to the field around the district this Saturday to finish off round eight.

With results hanging in the balance, it is expected that Colts Phelans will order the Creswick Imperials back to the Invermay Recreation Reserve in the hope that they can claim an outright win.

Colts well and truly beat out the Knights last weekend, limiting the Imperials to just 92 runs before Colts bowled them out.

Taking to the crease Colts had no trouble with a reply, finishing the day 2/164.

An outright victory is not out of sight for Colts, particularly after they scored an outright victory over MKM last round which saw them onto the top of the ladder.

Clunes have some unfinished business to sort out with MKM and will return to Bull Millgate this weekend.

With the Magpies having already started their reply innings after Mill was bowled all out for 173, Saturday could go either way depending on MKM’s defence.

Clunes are under 30 overs in and still have eight batsmen to get through to close the gap between themselves on 2/76 and MKM’s leading total.

Clunes head into the match as likely winners, currently sitting in second place on the ladder while Mill sits in fifth, but MKM’s bowlers have proven very useful in previous rounds.
