With the 10th anniversary of Maryborough’s Relay for Life just around the corner, the Maryborough Highland Society and local Nick Weaver are set to celebrate the milestone a little differently.
The Highland Society’s brand new Balls and Bumps Fundraiser event kicks off this Saturday at 6 pm, with organiser Nick Weaver expecting it to be a great night for all.
“The Balls and Bumps event aims to entice both men and women to come along for the night. It’s also the Pink Party reunion which is great, it should be a really good night and the money raised goes straight to Cancer Council Victoria,” he said.
“The Pink Party was always packed, we’d have 300 plus people attend and we’re hoping it will be the same for Balls and Bumps.
“It’s already looking to be a big crowd. It should go pretty well.”
The Pink Party was an annual fundraiser held at the Highland Society for the Breast Cancer Network Australia, with Balls and Bumps being the spiritual successor to the evening.
Mr Weaver, who lost a loved one to cancer in 2017, said getting together for this sort of event is important for the community.
Mr Weaver is also preparing to do something special for the 10th anniversary — aiming to complete 1000 burpees during Relay for Life, which will kick off on Friday, February 22 at 4 pm and finish at 10 am Saturday, February 23.
Having completed 400 burpees at last year’s event, Mr Weaver decided to push it further for the special milestone.
