Precious points on the line as season resumes

Goldfields Bowls Divisionʼs Saturday pennant will return this weekend with just five rounds to go for the season. Talbot Goldʼs Robert Jackson gave instructions to his bowler during the sideʼs clash with Dunolly last year and will be looking for a win over Avoca Red this weekend.

The first round of Saturday pennant for 2019 will get underway this weekend and with just five rounds to go and a tie at the top of the division one ladder, wins have never been more important.

After 10 rounds of bowls, joint ladder leaders Highland Tartan and Dunolly Blue both sit with a total of 86 premiership points each.

Dunolly and Tartan have a sorted history as they have met in several grand finals in recent years.

The most recent of which was at the end of last season where Dunolly was crowned as the grand final winners of 2017-18.

Dunolly successfully defended its premiership crown this season in round five with a win over Highland Tartan on their own green.

Both sides have a fairly easy introduction to the new year this Saturday as Dunolly is set to face Golf Blue while Tartan will head out to Newstead.

Golf Blue currently has a 50/50 win-loss ratio and last faced Dunolly Blue back in round one.

Blue went down on all rinks during the round one clash and in the end lost by 17 shots.
