Owls and Colts clash highlights first round

The match between reigning two-day premiers Maryborough and newly crowned one-day premiers Colts Phelans is sure to be the most highly contested game of thefirst two-day round for 2018-19.

Despite finishing the 2017-18 season in third place on the ladder, the Owls fought their way through semi finals and claimed last season’s two-day cup over Clunes.

The side narrowly missed out on making last weekend’s one-day grand final after they were dealt their only loss of the year by Clunes last month.

After dropping just one game so far this season, the Owls finished in third place on the one-day ladder.

After retaining the services of captain Ben Hoban, Mitch McClure and Martin Dell coupled with the recruitment of Sam Bartlett and Kaine Bodey, Maryborough would’ve had a fair idea that the 2018-19 season would be a good one.

At the start of the season, Hoban outlined that Maryborough had a goal to continue its two-day cricket success and claim another cup for the cabinet.
