Eight races and $67,000 in prize money highlight Trotters Cup

Maryborough Harness Racing Club secretary Les Chapman said todayʼs trotting cup will feature a mixture of young and experienced horses, which is sure to make for an exciting race day.

For the first time, the prestigious Maryborough Trotters Cup will be held today, on a Friday, and Maryborough Harness Club secretary Les Chapman said he is very confident in the quality of the field.

With eight races on the cards and $67,000 worth of prize money up for grabs, today’s meet is one of the main events on the Maryborough Harness Club’s calendar.

There is a stellar line up for race number seven, the Seelite Windows and Doors cup, which gets underway at 4.48 pm.

The $20,000 feature race features 13 horses that between them have won a combined 156 races and amassed prize money of almost $2 million.

Mr Chapman said the club is extremely pleased with the field for the cup and it should be an exciting race with a variety of experience.

“The club is very pleased with the line up for the cup, there are several horses in the field that have been competing in the Inter Dominion (famous Australian and New Zealand racing series),” he said.

The Maryborough Harness Racing Club’s (located in Carisbrook) gates open at 11.30 am today, with the first race to get underway at 1.22 pm.

A $500 jackpot is up for grabs for punters who manage to select the winner of the last five races and food and drink are available at the course.
