Colts finish one-day season undefeated with grand final victory

Colts Phelans have taken out the Maryborough District Cricket Associationʼs A grade one-day cup after a tough win over Clunes at the weekend. Front row: Will Collicoat, Dayne Baker (captain), Rich Clark, Rhys Wagstaff and Aaron Balzan.

In a gripping grand final result, Colts Phelans claimed the 2018-19 Maryborough District Cricket Association’s (MDCA) A grade one-day cup over Clunes by two wickets on Saturday.

After struggling through the 2017-18 season with just two wins and finishing in seventh place on the ladder, a rebuilt Colts side blitzed the one-day competition and came to premiership glory.

Clunes has been left heartbroken by the loss, as it is the fifth premiership defeat the Magpies have suffered since 2014.

Colts skipper Dayne Baker said although the one-day cup is rewarding, the side is already focussed on success in the two-day season which starts this weekend.
