Clunes blooms in new series

Fraser Street in Clunes is no stranger to filming, but a new Stan Original series takes the township to a supernatural place.

Clunes’ streetscapes have played host to a number of silverscreen and small screen hits over the years and recently became a hive of activity for the streaming service’s new TV series Bloom.

Melbourne born creator, writer and executive producer of Bloom, Glen Dolman, said the series tries something different in traditional Australian television.

“The series tells the story of a quaint country town living with the aftermath of a freak flood that kills five locals. It’s a supernatural drama,” he said.

“It’s set today, but we wanted to feel a little bit lost in time.

“We looked at a lot of places and came across Clunes, which is a gorgeous and beautiful town.”

Three months of filming in Clunes saw 50 local extras employed, and some $250,000 spent in the region.
