Lions convention expo offering up health advice

Senior Thermomix consultant Samantha Lean, Tai Chi instructor Paul Micallef, Carisbrook Lions Club president Jefferson Hoober, member Malcolm Miles and MDHS diabetes educator Donna Mortlock will be holding demonstrations at the Carisbrook Lions Clubʼs health expo.

The Carisbrook Lions Club is inviting locals to learn about the importance of staying healthy this weekend at the club’s first health expo.

The expo will be held in conjunction with the 2018 V1-4 District Lions Convention, an annual lions club event which is held in different locations around Victoria each year.

This is the first time the Carisbrook club has hosted the convention, which is expected to bring 150 Lions club delegates for their annual business and fellowship convention and includes displays of a broad range of activities and projects supported by different clubs.

Carisbrook Lions Club president and convention organising committee chair Jefferson Hoober said he was pleased Carisbrook had secured the convention for the first time.

“It’s pretty special to be a part of this,” he said.

“Our area goes from Coburg to Buningyong, Birchip, Charlton and Bendigo and there’s about 75 clubs so we had to go through a panel selection process to be chosen to host it.”

The Carisbrook Lions Convention will run from today until Sunday with the health expo, which is free and open to the public, on this Saturday at the Maryborough Harness Racing Club.
