Carisbrook’s Lauren Butler has been drafted by the Collingwood Football Club in the 2018 AFL Women’s draft.
At pick 18, the former Carisbrook Lady Redback is the first AFL player to come from the Carisbrook Football Netball Club.
Butler, who is not yet 18, was invited to the AFLW draft combine last month with 35 other hopeful draftees.
At the combine, Butler posted two top five results with an impressive time of 7.52 in the two kilometre time trial and reaching level 16.3 on the yo-yo endurance test.
Butler was the captain of the TAC Cup’s Greater Western Victoria Rebels side this season and made her VFLW debut with the Western Bulldogs earlier this year.
The 2019 AFLW season starts the first weekend in February and goes for nine weeks with the grand final held in March.
