Highland Tartan has continued its reign over the Goldfields Bowls Division’s division one competition, going three-from-three after round three of the 2018-19 season.
A 79-51 win has seen Tartan remain at the top of the ladder with all 36 out of 36 possible premiership points.
The all-rinks win over Talbot Gold came as Geoff Shay (26) defeated Peter Fletcher (16), Gary Wallis (32) won over Robert Jackson (20) and Gary Coburn (21) beat Peter McLoughlin (15).
Talbot Gold will now take on Newstead this weekend while Tartan will take on Golf Blue. Golf Blue will head into the clash with Tartan off the back of an 18-shot win over Avoca Red.
Kevin Prime and David Pearce provided Blue’s winning rinks, while Avoca’s George Brown supplied his side’s only winning rink of the season.
Thanks to Brown, Avoca has escaped the bottom of the ladder sitting just ahead of Newstead with both sides now on two premiership points.
Despite Newstead’s low ladder ranking, the side put up a fight against last year’s premiers Dunolly Blue at the weekend.
