Maryborough’s best basketballers will be put through their paces by two NBL legends this weekend.

Dual Olympian and former NBA player Chris Anstey and NBL great Cam Rigby will work with the Maryborough Blazers in a one off training session open to the public this Saturday.

The pair will also host a free junior training session on Sunday.

Throughout his career, Anstey has represented Australia at two world championships and both the Sydney 2000 and Beijing 2008 Olympics.

Anstey was selected by the Portland Trailblazers in the first round of the 1997 NBA draft and went on to play for the Dallas Mavericks and Chicago Bulls in the following years.

Rigby has had an impressive local career with stints at both the Illawarra Hawks and the former Canberra Cannons, as well as playing in the South East Australia Basketball League.

The Blazers’ open training will start at 3 pm on Saturday, October 6 at the MSLC and will be followed by a season opener match against fellow Country Basketball Association team, the Ararat Redbacks.

On Sunday, October 7 basketball fans are invited to meet Rigby and Anstey and participate in free coaching sessions from 10 am also at the MSLC.
