Police to be on premiership patrol

Grand final celebrations will kick off this weekend as the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League’s 2018 season comes to an end and local police will be out in force to ensure everyone gets home safely.

With crowds in their thousands expected to flock to Princes Park from around the district tomorrow, police are warning everyone to take extra care on the road.

Highway Patrol Sergeant Noel Jacobs said after a relatively good result during last year ’s local premiership weekend, he hopes tomorrow will be a similar story of success.

“Last year the crowd was very good, we didn’t get many offences at all so I’m hoping this year will be the same,” he said.

“The police will be out and about as usual and we’ll be targetting speeding, drink driving and drug driving.”

With the Loddon Valley Football Netball League also holding its premiership tomorrow at Bridgewater, Sgt Jacobs said planning ahead is the key to a safe weekend.
