After some bumpy months, passenger trains on the Ararat Maryborough line are now arriving on time at a steadier rate.
According to new performance data released by V/Line, punctuality on the line for the month of August was at 83.1 percent, a significant increase after averaging 78.8 percent from March to July.
Reliability on the line for the month of August was also high with 98.3 percent of services delivered, exceeding V/Line’s 96 percent monthly target.
The results were a slight decrease compared to the same time last year when reliability was at 100 percent and punctuality 85.8 percent.
Passengers travelling on the Ballarat line may have noticed less punctual services over August.
During the month 85.2 percent of services arrived at their destination on time while the reliability of services was at 95.1 percent.
V/Line CEO James Pinder said on-time performance had been tracking around 90 percent and above early in August for the Ballarat line, but some one-off incidents impacted the monthly totals for both punctuality and reliability.
