Maryborough Football Netball Club’s smallest Magpies will head to Strathfieldsaye this Sunday to take on Kangaroo Flat in the Bendigo Football Netball League’s under 12 grand final.
Despite their young age, with seven kids eligible to play under 10s this season, the Pies sit at the top of the ladder with just one loss all season.
Coach Cam Skinner said the club is really proud of the boys for a strong season.
“Our team is really young. We’ve only got five kids that will need to go up next year so it’s a pretty good effort. It also means we should have a pretty good team for a few years yet,” he said.
Maryborough has previously beaten Kangaroo Flat, last year ’s premiers, twice this season with a 30-point win in round five and a 15-point win in round 12.
The Magpies will take to the Strathfieldsaye Recreation Reserve at 10 am this Sunday.
