Buyers snapping up local properties

Maryborough Ballarat Real Estate sales manager Kate Ashton says the property market is “booming” in Maryborough and surrounds.

If you’re considering selling your house, now is the time to do it according to local real estate agencies.

The market in Maryborough and surrounds is currently booming as more buyers than ever are seeking a country change, Maryborough Ballarat Real Estate sales manager Kate Ashton says.

Ms Ashton has been selling houses in the area for the past 15 years and said the housing market has been growing over the past 12 months.

According to Ms Ashton, 264 properties have been sold in Maryborough over the past year with the lowest house priced at $70,000 and the highest $725,000.

“In the past the highest price a house here sold for was $605,000, and that’s the highest I can find in Maryborough’s history so we’ve outdone that,” she said.

First National Real Estate Maryborough’s Craig Bell said the town is running on a lower stock level than this time last year.

“On realestate.com.au right now there’s about 130 listings for the Maryborough post code, where as this time last year there were about 200,” he said.

According to Professionals Maryborough agent Jacinta Clifford, a demand for all property types is leading the boom in Maryborough.

“Land seems to be walking out the door. House blocks in the new estate are selling fast but anything with acreage has been moving,” she said.
