Carisbrook has further reiterated the point that it is the best side in the MCDFNL with a statement 91-point victory over Harcourt on Saturday.
The Lions announced themselves as contenders two rounds ago with a competent win over Natte Bealiba but Carisbrook bought into none of the hype on its home ground at the weekend, brushing aside Harcourt with devastating ease in a 16.15 (111) to 2.8 (20) result.
Such was the Redbacks’ dominance from the opening bounce the game was essentially dead in the water at the conclusion of the first quarter when Carisbrook led 6.6 (42) to nil.
Any chance of a Harcourt revival in the second was quickly shut down and the Lions went goalless for another quarter, despite threatening the goal mouth with more purpose. Carisbrook meanwhile kicked another four goals to lead 10.9 (69) to 0.3 (3) at halftime.
The second half was more of the same and while Carisbrook took its foot of the pedal as the game wound to a close, the Redbacks still won all four quarters of the match, partly due to some Harcourt inaccuracy in front off goal.
