Talbot back on track after bringing down Bombers

Talbotʼs Matthew Smith boots the ball during Saturdayʼs win over Maldon.

Talbot has rebounded from its third loss of the 2018 season with a hard-fought six-goal win against Maldon.

Seemingly still feeling the ill- effects of an 80-point loss to Carisbrook a week earlier, the Hawks were slow to start but eventually overcame the inaccurate Bombers, 15.7 (97) to 8.13 (61).

Talbot trailed at quarter time as Maldon started the better and peppered the goals at Talbot Recreation Reserve.

The Bombers led by four points at quarter time, but arguably should have been ahead by more having kicked 3.4 (22) to Talbot’s 3.0 (18).

Talbot regained control in the second quarter with four goals to two, setting up a nine-point lead at halftime.

The Hawks continued to grind away the determined Bombers, who were battling to keep their remote finals chances alive, in the second half.
