Carisbrook back in first as top four order changes

Tom Gardam evades Tim Carroll during Carisbrookʼs 80-point win over Talbot at the weekend.

The Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League’s reigning premiers Carisbrook are back on top of the ladder following a transformative round 12.

All top four positions changed hands on Saturday with the Redbacks climbing to the top of the ladder with an 80-point win over Talbot.

Carisbrook’s ascent was aided by Natte Bealiba’s shock 43-point defeat at the hands of Harcourt. The Redbacks are now above the Swans on percentage, with a massive advantage of almost 400 percentage points.

The wash-up from round 12 sees Carisbrook in first, Natte Bealiba in second and Harcourt now in third, a game clear of the fourth-placed Talbot.

While the final scoreline of 15.16 (106) to 3.8 (26) between Carisbrook and Talbot indicates another regulation win for the Redbacks, Saturday’s contest was ultra competitive affair in the first half.

Both sides failed to kick a goal in the first quarter with Talbot managing to stifle Carisbrook’s potent attack.
