Natte Bealiba has steadied itself at the top of the MCDFNL’s ladder, surviving a predicted strong challenge from Trentham to claim a nine-point win.
For the second week in a row the Swans had less scoring shots than their opponents, but walked away with a 7.9 (51) to 5.12 (42) victory at Natte Yallock Recreation Reserve to see off yet another of the 2018 season’s predicted biggest challengers, one round after taking the mantle of league front-runners from Carisbrook.
There was similarities between Saturday’s win and Natte’s round five triumph over the Redbacks, with a fast start proving vital.
The Swans booted five first quarter goals and held a sluggish Trentham to just one to take a 22-point, 5.1 (31) to 1.3 (9) lead into the first break.
