Bendigo sides struggle in Warrnambool

Maryborough Football Netball Clubʼs Lachlan Bond was among the Bendigo FNLʼs best players in the under 18 sideʼs loss to the Hampden FNL on Saturday.

The Bendigo Football Netball League has struggled in its interleague trip to Warrnambool, with neither of its under 18 or senior representative football sides able to get a win against the Hampden Football Netball League.

Boasting two representatives from the Maryborough Football Netball Club in Connor O’Shea and Lachlan Bond, the BFNL’s under 18 side was well outclassed by a slick HFNL opponent, going down 11.10 (76) to 3.6 (24).

Playing in the forward line, Bond offered a marking target and physical presence and managed a shot on goal in the third quarter to be named in the side’s best players. O’Shea, meanwhile, had his hands full playing deep in Bendigo’s defence which was regularly under siege.

MFNCʼs Connor OʼShea played deep in defence for the BFNL and was busy, with the under 18 side going down by 52 points to their Warrnambool-based opponents.
