Clubs in the Victorian Women’s Football League have finalised their teams for the 2018 season, with two well-known names in the Maryborough area included on playing lists.
Carisbrook’s Lauren Butler has been drafted to the Western Bulldogs VFL side on Thursday, while Jessica Kile will line-up for Williamstown this season.
At just 17 years of age, Butler said she is “nervous and excited” about being selected and has already started training with the Western Bulldogs’ playing group.
“It’s a really good opportunity and it has always been my dream to play at a higher level,” she said.
The current under 18 Greater Western Victorian Rebels captain in the TAC Cup competition, Butler was presented with her jumper last Thursday and is hoping to play at least four VFL games over the season.
Former Carisbrook Redbacks premiership coach Kile, as well as Trentham’s Jenna Bruton, are set to play with Williamstown’s VFL side, with Kile being selected to form part of their leadership group.
“It is an amazing opportunity for not only me but all who are involved,” Kile told williamstownfc.com.au when her signing was announced.
