The local football community has been left devastated by the sudden and tragic passing of Shaun Kelly.

Kelly, who passed away on Saturday, was AFL Goldfields’ media marketing and events manager from 2013-15 and was heavily involved in football across western Victoria.

Starting his own successful business, On Deck Media, Kelly’s

efforts involved growing football at the Greater Western Victorian Rebels for both boys and girls.

AFL Goldfields described Kelly as a “vital part of the fabric of all AFL Goldfields competition during his time” and said he was “truly well loved, respected and admired” in a statement released earlier this week.

Kelly will also be honoured with a minute’s silence before the commencement of tonight’s round one match between Maryborough Rovers and Talbot at Princes Park, and players will wear black armbands as a mark of respect.
