Local tennis players can now enjoy top quality facilities with Maryborough’s brand new synthetic grass courts set to officially open on Sunday.
Five sand filled, artificial grass courts are now available for use thanks to funding provided by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), support from the Central Goldfields Shire and funds raised by the Maryborough Tennis Centre.
Maryborough Tennis Centre president Heather Carr said it is “exciting” to finally have the courts completed after a 12-month planning and construction period.
According to Carr, the new courts will significantly reduce the cost of maintaining the grounds.
The open day starts at 1 pm at the Maryborough tennis courts and will feature the ANZ Hot Shots program, giveaways and free play.
The official opening will commence at 2 pm and is open to all members of the public.
