Wood wins school swimming title

Emmerson Wood has made another outstanding achievement in the pool.

Emmerson continuing to climb the ranks of the swimming world, this month taking out a prestigious inter- school championship title.

Competing at the Independent Country Co-Educational Schools Sports competition (ICCES) earlier this month at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre for her school, Highview College, Emmerson was crowned the overall, year eight female champion.

The annual competition features eight schools from around the state including Ballarat Grammar, Bacchus Marsh Grammar, Gippsland Grammar and Goulbern Valley Grammar, giving Emmerson a tough competition.

Emmerson finished first in the backstroke with a time of 36.00 seconds, second in freestyle (30.65) and third in butterfly (35.06), and then won the champion title on a countback.

Swimming at the event for the second time, Emmerson said this year’s victory was unexpected.
