MDCA teams gear up for finals with Laane taking stong hold of top spot

Laanecoorie Dunolly’s Jayden Templeton got his side over the line with an unbeaten 100.

A perfect century from Laanecoorie Dunolly skipper Jayden Templeton has launched the side into semi-finals on a high and on top of the Maryborough District Cricket Association ladder.

Taking on Clunes in high temperatures during round 14, Laane took a two-wicket victory against the Magpies, its eighth win for the season.

Setting out to beat Clunes’ competitive first innings score of 207, Laane had a big tally to chase down.

Making 1/29 during first innings, the side needed just under 180 runs to win the round.

Kicking things off on Saturday, Brady Templeton and Liam Mottram were unable to make much improvement on their first innings scores, making totals of eight and 14 respectively.

Stepping up to take Mottram’s place at the crease, skipper Jayden Templeton was quick to show Clunes he meant business.

Staying in play for the rest of the innings, the Magpies were unable to defeat him, as he steadily increased his tally until he made nearly half of Laane’s total score, finishing stumps for 100.
