History is set to repeat itself next Tuesday as Dunolly Blue once again clashes with Highland Tartan, this time during the midweek pennant grand final.
Highland dominated the midweek competition throughout the season, finishing on top of the ladder.
Although they had some strong matches, Dunolly finished the home and away season 52 points behind the Tartans in third place.
However, Dunolly scored a spot in the season decider after an impressive, nine-shot victory over Golf Blue on Tuesday.
A large crowd gathered to watch the two sides go head-to-head during the preliminary final, which proved to be a close game.
Heather Freemantle took a strong win over Leanne Burt 38-18, dismissing her with ease.
But Golf was not to be put down so easily, and Marian Webb swooped in to take a 35-13 win for Golf over Marg Davies.
There was only a five-shot difference between the two sides halfway through the match.
Loretta Parker came back to defend Dunolly in the final rink, taking a 27-14 win over Val Mortlock and securing an overall, 76-67 victory for Dunolly.
Highland Tartan took out last season’s midweek grand final, and Highland acting treasurer Shirley Huggett said this year the side hopes to honour the recent passing of their club treasurer.
“Sadly our treasurer, John Simmons, has passed away, and he would have been playing in the grand final with us,” she said.
“He was a lovely man and we’re all very sad, so we’re going to be playing for him.”
