Special fundraiser to promote region’s Words in Winter festival

A special fundraiser is being held this week to help make this year’s Central Goldfields Words in Winter program one of the most successful ever.

The inaugural Words in Winter Central Goldfields Region Net- working Fundraiser is being held this Saturday between 4 and 6 pm at Katescastle Book Emporium at 194 High Street, Maryborough.

Tickets are available from Katescastle for $25 with all proceeds going towards promoting the 2018 Central Goldfields Words in Winter program.

The event will feature local authors, venues and services with writers Lowen Clarke, Stacey McCoy, Val Dwyer and Susan Day available to chat informally about their work.

Maryborough illustrator Adrian Masterman-Smith will also be on hand to preview some of his work, while Avoca Community Arts and Gardens will be serving Taltarni red and white wine.

Barista coffee and entry ticket prizes and other giveaways will also be on offer.

“This event is informal, unstruc- tured and information focused. It’s designed to be a relaxed way to meet up and find out more about the region, produce, talent venues and services,” Words in Winter volunteer co-ordinator for the Maryborough region, Monika Roleff, said.
