Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford, Labor candidate for Ripon Sarah De Santis and Committee for Maryborough interim chairperson Maria Smith met in Maryborough this week, with Ms Pulford announcing the State Government has committed a $50,000 grant to the committee.

The State Government has backed the Committee for Maryborough with a $50,000 grant to help the group move forward.

Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford announced the funding on Wednesday during her visit to Maryborough and said the funding will allow the group to take it’s next steps.

“We support the establishment of the Committee for Maryborough and I encourage business owners and industry representatives to get involved and help shape a positive future for Maryborough,” she said.

“The Committee for Maryborough will help create a vibrant future for the business community and is driven by people who know it best.

“Right across the state, we’re investing in projects that make regional and rural Victoria a better place to live, work and do business.

“It’s about the business community stepping up into a role in civic and community leadership and that’s a terrific thing.”

Ms Pulford said the Central Goldfields community is “hungry for leadership roles to be filled”.
