The intersection between Alma and Nolan streets will soon be home to the Maryborough Lions Club monthly market, with the Central Goldfields Shire Council supporting a proposal to move the market on a 12 month trial basis.
With its market currently held at the Maryborough Harness Racing Complex on the first Sunday of every month, the Maryborough Lions Club approach-ed council to conduct a monthly market in Maryborough’s CBD, as the current site is becoming unsustainable due to increasing hire costs.
The new market location will begin at the rear of the Lions Club bookshop in Alma Street, across Nolan Street to the rear of Maryborough Travel and Cruise and then along Nolan Street between High and Napier streets.
Central Goldfields Shire interim CEO Vince Haining said the motion was advancing a resolution which was previously decided by the elected councillors, before they were dismissed by the State Government.
