Laanecoorie etched out a lead at the top of the Maryborough District Cricket Association ladder, defeating MKM by three wickets in the only game within the association to be completed over the weekend.
After rain led to a defeat to Creswick Imperials through the Duckworth Lewis system in round seven, the weather gods smiled on Laanecoorie Dunolly on Saturday and Sunday with the game at Ron Sinclair Oval able to reach completion.
This was despite downpours on Friday and Saturday that, while not as torrential as first forecast, put an end to the other two A grade contests and four A reserve contests across the MDCA.
With all other teams splitting points in round eight, Laane’s collection of six points has seen the Dunolly side establish a three-point break at the top of the ladder with 36 points compared to Creswick Imperials’33.
