Blazers beat Swan Hill in last home games

Keely Hare looks towards the goal in the Lady Blazers win over Swan Hill on Saturday night. Hare scored eight points in the win.

The Maryborough men’s and lady Blazers have bid a fond farewell to the Maryborough Sports and Leisure Centre, both defeating Swan Hill Flyers in their final appearance on their home court in season 2017-18.

The men’s side got the better of Swan Hill 79-65 and now sit in fourth position on the ladder while the Lady Blazers defeated the Flyers 62-48 but were unable to rise above fifth position on the table.

Having played six of their eight games of 2017-18 at home, the two Blazers side will spend the final four home and away rounds on the road, meeting Horsham this week before games against Mildura, Castlemaine and Bendigo when play picks up after the Christmas break in 2018.

The men’s side will roll into their clash with Horsham with confidence after one of their most evenly balanced performances came against Swan Hill.

While Brady Neill still led the scoring with 20 points, four other Blazers banked points totals in the double digits.

Harrison Butler and Jason Stewart each put up 11 points while Tom Hurse and Lachlan Drummond scored 10.

Tom Hurse hangs from the ring after a slam dunk which netted him two of his 10 points for the evening.
