Blazers set to begin 2017-18 season with fresh faces

The Maryborough Blazers and Lady Blazers have a lot to look forward to as they begin their 2017/18 season this weekend.

The Lady Blazers will welcome new coaches, former VFL Collingwood player Brendon Tranter and former Blazers player Matthew Johnston.

Lady Blazers player Chloe Egan said the team is “very lucky” to have the coaches and is looking forward to the changes they will bring.

“Brendon’s got a huge resumé in lots of sports when it comes to coaching. He’s going to bring a new vibe to the team,” she said.

“Matt has a really big basketball resumé both as a player and as a coach. It’ll be really exciting to see what he can bring to a girls’ basketball side.”

This season Lady Blazers have returning team mates Tori Chandler and Maggie Tranter and Egan said she is looking forward to the skills they will bring.

The men’s Blazers side is also looking forward to a promising new season. The team looks set to be coached once again by Brady Neill.
