One of Maryborough’s most exciting young sporting stars continues to take giant strides towards a golden dream.
Lawn bowler Kira Bourke has been named as skip of the Victorian team for the triples event at the upcoming national competition.
The accolade is just another feather in the cap of the talented bowler, who has busily compiled an enviable list of achievements over the past 18 months.
In 2017 alone, Bourke has claimed the Goldfields Bowls Division champion of champions trophy, won the Barooga under 19 singles event (the first female to ever do so), played for Victoria in a test against South Australia, was selected to represent central Victoria in the women’s regionals to be held in New South Wales, claimed victory in the under 18 mixed pairs championship alongside Riley Hodgson, and won selection to represent the state in a test against Tasmania.
Despite a long list of achievements and a resumé most seasoned bowlers would be proud of, Bourke says she still has a lot of improvement left in her.
“I want to work on my tactics going forward,” Bourke said.
