Despite much speculation, the Carisbrook Football Netball Club says it is fully committed to a future in the MCDFNL.
Last month a recommendation from AFL Goldfields’ senior football review suggested that the Redbacks should look to switch into the Central Highlands Football Netball League, however Carisbrook Football Netball Club president Troy Driscoll says the club will be making no such move in the immediate future.
“There’s been a lot of speculation and conjecture recently, but we want to make it absolutely clear that we are 100 percent committed to our short to medium term future in the MCDFNL,” Driscoll said.
“We’ll definitely be a part of the MCDFNL for the next two to three years at the very least,” he said.
While the club won’t be making a move any time soon, Driscoll says the board will be keeping an open mind to all possibilities.
“We were asked if we’d be interested in making a move and I think as a club, you owe it to everyone involved to consider all possibilities, rather than dismiss them. We need to evolve with the times,” Driscoll said.
“However, we really want to offset any panic about our immediate future. There’s been a few people concerned we’d be moving in 2018 and that’s not true, we’ll be part of the MCDFNL in 2018 and beyond,” he said.
