The Carisbrook Lions have finished the 2017 home and away season in scintillating fashion, crushing Redan by 94 points to claim the AFL Goldfields Women’s Football League Division 2 minor premiership.
The Lions were dominant right from the opening bounce, holding Redan Gold scoreless for the entire first term, while booting 3.4 to take a 22-point lead into quarter time.
Sensing an opportunity to gain some significant percentage, the Lions continued their dominance in the second term, scoring a further 4.3, while restricting Redan to just one behind, blowing the margin out to a massive 48 points at the main break.
Gold failed to find any renewed vigour in the second half, again going an entire term scoreless, while the Lions piled on another 5.3, taking an 81-point lead going into the last.
While the Lions were able to boot another three majors in the final term, they fell just short of a 100- point victory, running out victors 15.12 (102) to 1.2 (8).
