This Sunday’s elimination final between Avoca and Navarre has some added significance for the Bulldogs, with a club legend set to achieve a major milestone.
Stacey Blair will take the court for the 400th time in Bulldogs’ colours this week.
In a career spanning 29 years, Blair easily lays claim to the title of one of the best netballers ever produced by the club, having won three A grade league best and fairest awards (two in the Lexton Plains Football Netball League and one in the MCDFNL in 2005), eight Avoca FNC A grade best and fairest awards and eight premierships along the way.
Ever the team player, Blair says her main focus this week is making sure the Bulldogs progress to the semi finals.
“It would be nice to celebrate the milestone with a win, Navarre are a team that’s had the wood over us for a while, so to get one back over them would be nice,” Blair said.
Blair’s longevity and consistency has been remarkable considering the taxing nature of the sport, however she doesn’t put her success down to any one thing in particular.
“I think it’s just a bit of luck,” Blair said.
