Two local stars have shone on the big stage for AFL Goldfields.
Natte Bealiba’s Bailey Cossar and Carisbrook’s Lauren Butler were both named as AFL Goldfields’ best in their respective matches against AFL Barwon.
Cossar, who is fresh off a tour of far north Queensland, once again show- cased his capabilities, helping the Goldfields’ under 16 side to a 7.5 (47) to 5.9 (39) victory over Barwon.
After accepting his medal, Cossar told AFL Goldfields that his main focus was on getting the team result.
“That was a hard game, but it was good to get the win,” he said.
It’s been a busy month for the young star, who recently put in a string of eye-catching performances in the side’s tour of far north Queensland.
Meanwhile, Carisbrook’s brightest young star Lauren Butler added to her already enviable CV with another dominant performance.
Butler was named best on ground for AFL Goldfields under 18 youth girls side, however despite her dominance, Goldfields was beaten by AFL Barwon 11.11 (77) to 7.4 (46).
“It was a good game and a great team effort, but unfortunately we didn’t get the win,” Butler told AFL Goldfields after the match.
