On a sunny day back in 2009, Evan Ipsen sat at work begrudging the fact his friends were outdoors, taking part in a triathlon.
After deciding he wouldn’t let lightning strike twice, Ipsen took part in the next race and quickly found out he had a talent for the sport.
Eight years later and Evan is taking part in the Triathlon World Championships, which will be held in September this year.
Ipsen earned his spot in the event after a strong performance in Ballarat last December and given this is his second consecutive appearance at the championships, he says he hopes to see improvement on his 2016 efforts.
“I made the team last year, which was the first time I’d made it,” Ipsen said.
However, before Ipsen heads across to the championships, he’ll take part in the annual Ripples on the Res fun run, to be held at Goldfields Reservoir this Sunday from 9 am.
Ipsen will take part in the 10.2 km long course, however there’s a 5.1 km short course also on offer.
