Carisbrook has bounced back from its first loss of 2017 with a 115-point drubbing of Newstead.
The Roos felt the full force of the Redbacks’ atonement for last round’s shock loss to Harcourt, with the Steaders on the wrong end of a 22.7 (139) to 3.6 (24) scoreline.
Such were the Roos’ struggles that they only managed to boot a solitary goal in the first three quarters of football, watching on helplessly as the Redbacks drilled home goal after goal, with a 39 to zero scoreline at quarter time an omen of what was to come.
Things only got worse for the Roos from thereon in, with the Redbacks booting 10.6 in the opening half, while Newstead was able to scrounge just a single behind.
The Roos finally managed to break through and score their first major of the day in the third term, but it came at the cost of eight Carisbrook goals, with the Redbacks putting on a fearsome display of scoring power.
