Maryborough coach Shane Skontra says the selection of young-guns Coby Perry and Ethan Crackel in the Bendigo Football Netball League’s initial interleague squad for the second year running is evidence that his club can still produce top level talent.
Perry and Crackel were both last week named in a 58-man squad for the BFNL which will take on the Ballarat Football League in the AFL Victoria Community Championships in mid May.
Maryborough was the equal least represented club in the squad, with Castlemaine also only having two players selected, however Skontra said he was excited by the local duo’s call-up.
“I’m proud of any players that go just reward for his efforts repre- the Victorian Country under 19 on to achieve higher honours and I think it’s great for us as a club that wants to show we are capable of good football,” Skontra said.
