GALLERY: Roads turn to racetracks for cycling championships

The streets of Maryborough got a solid workout over the Easter long weekend as the Australian Veterans Cycling Championships rolled into town.

With over 200 entrants in this year’s event, the competition was fierce and the standard of cycling at an all-time high.

Jarod Moroni was one of the day’s big winners, taking out the men’s road race in the 35-44 age category, with a time of 2:18:40, narrowly edging out Stephen Lane.

Over in the 45-59 category Darren Roberts claimed victory with a time of 1:56:53 and Trevor Coulter (1:37:49) was victorious in the 60-69.

Meanwhile Robert Nicholls was winner of the 70+ category with a time of 1:14:37.
