The Central Goldfields Shire will pause with the rest of the nation this Tuesday to commemorate Anzac Day.
Maryborough’s Anzac Day services will begin with the dawn service at 6 am at McLandress square, followed by a gold coin donation breakfast hosted by the Maryborough District Vietnam Veterans Association.
The march will commence at 10.30 am from the front of the RSL Hall in High Street before making its way along High and Nolan Streets to McLandress Square.
The Anzac Day address will this year be conducted by Luke Thatchell from Highview College and Sharine Lanfranchi from Maryborough Education Centre with readings by Zara Field of Maryborough Sleeping Stars Productions.
After the service the Central Goldfields Art gallery will be open until 4 pm with its exhibition of Australia will be there: Victorians in the First World War 1914 to 1919.
For veterans and members of the public who cannot attend, the morning service will be broadcast on Goldfields FM later in the morning.
Other services in the Central Goldfields Shire will take place in Carisbrook, Majorca, Dunolly, Talbot and Bealiba.
Carisbrook’s service will take place at the town’s war memorial from 11 am.
Majorca’s service will get underway at 9.45 am and Danny McIver OAM will be the guest speaker.
Dunolly will host a dawn service at 6 am and another service at 11 am while Talbot’s commemorations will get underway at 9 am.
